Latakia University tops Syrian universities and enters the digital ranking in the British Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2027.

Latakia University achieved a remarkable accomplishment within the ranking, becoming the only Syrian university to obtain a digital ranking (Category +2001), while the rest of the Syrian universities were listed as "Reporter."

Dr. Ammar Abbas, Director of the University's Ranking Office, explained that the 2027 edition is the broadest in the history of the ranking, as it included universities from 118 countries, reflecting the wide scope of global competition.

He added that the ranking measures university performance according to indicators of teaching, research environment, research quality, industry collaboration, and international openness, and relies on Scopus data from Elsevier and academic reputation surveys.

This achievement affirms Latakia University's keenness to enhance its international academic and research presence, develop the education and scientific research environment, and promote openness and international cooperation, consolidating its position among global universities.
