Latakia University (formerly Tishreen) maintained its advanced position among Syrian universities, securing second place locally, according to the latest updates of the American UNIRANKS University Ranking for 2027.
The university also achieved remarkable progress globally, jumping 185 positions to rank 4,646 worldwide among more than 36,000 universities distributed across 228 countries and territories.
Dr. Ammar Abbas, Director of the University's Ranking Office, explained that the UNIRANKS ranking relies on a comprehensive (360-degree) evaluation system and assesses universities across 11 core pillars, including quality of education, employment, innovation, and digital transformation. Its methodology combines automatically extracted data, data submitted by universities, and stakeholder surveys, with manual verification by a team of experts to ensure accuracy and transparency.
This progress is an extension of Latakia University's international excellence and reflects the quality of its educational and research systems, as well as its ability to prepare qualified cadres for competition locally and internationally.
