The Robotics Club at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Lattakia University has achieved a significant milestone: its first publication on the prestigious IEEE Xplore digital library in the proceedings of "The International Conference on Research and Education in Mechatronics, REM2024," which was held at the Dead Sea, Jordan, in late September last year, with a distinguished hosting by the German Jordanian University. The accepted scientific paper is entitled "Enhancing Path Planning Algorithms with CubicSearch: A Novel Structured Approach for Propagation and Obstacle Avoidance." The research explores a new path-planning algorithm, a critical element in robotics applications. The results show that the CubicSearch algorithm effectively manages highly complex 3D environments with multiple obstacles (over 100,000 obstacles), generating the shortest paths for large datasets in less than one second. It was authored by fifth-year undergraduate student Ali Youssef and his fellow club members, and presented as a project for the Mechatronics Applications course (a fourth-year course in the Mechatronics Department), under the supervision of Dr. Issa Al-Ghannam. This achievement paves the way for future research and promotes scientific publishing within the club.
