Dr.
Iyad Fahsa, President of Latakia University, discussed with Mr. Mohammad
Hussein, Head of the Latakia Workers’ Union, and Mr. Alaa Obeido, Head of the
Culture, Printing, and Media Workers’ Syndicate, a number of issues concerning
the university’s workers. The meeting focused on improving their living and
professional conditions and ensuring their rights.
The
meeting addressed several labor-related demands, including the regularization
of contract workers and the allocation of allowances for transportation and
uniforms.
The
University President emphasized the university administration’s role in
improving the professional and social conditions of its workers, noting that
their demands are being carefully considered—particularly the regularization of
contracts to ensure job stability and safeguard their rights.
In
turn, the Head of the Workers’ Union thanked the University President for the
warm reception and for listening to the workers’ demands, expressing his hope
for positive outcomes that would benefit both parties.
The
meeting was attended by Mr. Khaled Al-Nassan, Vice Head of the Latakia Workers’
Union; Mr. Ali Abu Rukb, member of the Union’s Executive Office; Ms. Juliette
Nassar, Director of International, Public, and Cultural Relations at the
university; and Mr. Qusai Arslan, Head of the University’s Trade Union Office.
